The UCB Library maintains a well-organized collection of nearly 3,500 volumes, including the latest editions of books across a wide range of disciplines such as Management, Tourism, Event Management, Hospitality Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Farm Machinery Technology, Physics, Statistics, ICT, Research, and Languages. In addition, the Library also offers fiction and general reading materials to encourage lifelong learning and leisure reading.

Library Organizing & Arrangement

Library resources are systematically organized using the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system, the most widely adopted subject classification method worldwide. This arrangement ensures that materials are categorized by subject and author, making it easy for users to locate the information they need quickly and efficiently.

Library Membership

All registered students and staff of the UCB are eligible for library membership. Membership cards are issued upon registration and must be presented when borrowing materials.

Library Rules & Policies

To ensure all users have access to our resources, the Library has established the following rules and policies:

Overdue Items

Fines range from Rs. 5 to Rs. 10 per day, depending on the duration of the delay. Please return materials on time to avoid penalties.

Book reservation and Renewals

  • Borrowers must immediately report any lost items to the Library counter.
  • Replacement costs include:
    • Cost of the item (current market price)
    • Departmental charges (25%)
    • Overdue charges (if any)
    • Any other applicable charges
  • Alternatively, the borrower may replace the lost item with a new copy (same or latest edition). Additional charges in this case include:
    • Departmental charges (15%)
    • Overdue charges (if any)
    • Any other applicable charges
  • Items not returned within three months from the due date will automatically be considered lost.

Damaged Materials

Any damaged items will be assessed by the Library. Borrowers may be required to pay a fee or provide a replacement, including a 25% departmental charge.

Loss of Library Cards

Library cards are strictly non-transferable. If your card is lost, report it to the library immediately. A fine of Rs. 500 will be charged for each lost card. Duplicate cards or library clearance will only be issued after fines are paid.

Discipline in the library

To maintain a conducive environment for study and research, all users are expected to observe the following rules:

Silence

Complete silence must be maintained throughout the library. Joint work, conversations, and discussions are not permitted.

Identification

All users must present their ID cards to library staff upon request.

Prohibited Items

Water bottles, briefcases, bags, parcels, textbooks, notebooks, files, caps, cameras, and similar items are not allowed inside the library.

Book Removal

No book may be removed from the library without following proper lending procedures

Library Staff Authority

Library staff are authorized to examine any books carried by users to ensure compliance with library regulations.

Improper Conduct

Any disorderly behavior or violation of library regulations will be reported and may result in suspension of library privileges.

Library Clearance

All students are required to obtain library clearance upon completion of their studies or withdrawal from studentship at UCB.

All permanent and temporary staff members are also required to obtain library clearance upon resignation, service termination, retirement from UCB service, or prior to proceeding on overseas leave.

Important: Clearance will only be issued once all borrowed books and library materials, including library cards, have been returned.
