University College of Batangala offers a range of NVQ Level 5 and Level 6 Diploma Programs designed to equip students with hands-on skills and professional knowledge required by today’s industries.

Our current study programs include:

🔧 Technology Department

  • Construction Technology
    Develop skills in building design, construction processes, and project management to meet modern construction industry standards.
  • Quantity Surveying
    Learn cost estimation, tendering, and contract management techniques essential for the construction sector.
  • Farm Machinery
    Gain practical training in the operation, maintenance, and management of agricultural machinery and modern farming technologies.

 

🧑‍🍳 Management Department

  • Hospitality Management
    Build your career in hotel and restaurant management with in-depth exposure to front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, customer service operations and Kitchen operations.
  • Travel & Tour Management
    Explore the tourism industry through modules in tour operations, travel planning, and tourism marketing, preparing you for local and international opportunities.
  • Event Management
    Learn to plan, organize, and execute successful events, from concept development to post-event evaluation, with a focus on creativity and professionalism.

Applicants are required to meet one of the following:

GCE (A/L) qualification in Science, Arts, Commerce, or Technology streams (with specified subject requirements depending on the course).

Or

NVQ Level 4 Certificate in a relevant field of study.

The University College of Batangala (UCB) follows a structured and transparent admissions process to ensure fair selection of students.

  1. Application Submission – Admission notices are published in newspapers and on the official website. Interested candidates must submit their applications before the closing date.
  2. Screening & Shortlisting – All applications are carefully reviewed against the eligibility criteria. Shortlisted candidates are invited for the aptitude test.
  3. Aptitude Test & Interview – Applicants sit for an aptitude test, followed by an interview to assess suitability for the chosen program.
  4. Selection & Registration – Successful candidates are selected based on merit. They are then invited to complete registration, submit required documents, and undergo a medical test.
  5. Student Services – Once registered, students receive their student ID, season tickets, and access to other facilities.

Foundation Course : 02 Months

NVQ 5 : 1 Year

OJT 01 : 06 Months

NVQ 06 : 1 Year

OJT 02 : 06 Months

Total : 03 Years & 02 Months

🎓 Tuition Fees

  • No tuition fees are charged for the NVQ Level 5 and Level 6 Diploma Programs.
  • Students can pursue their studies free of charge, as all programs are fully sponsored by the Government of Sri Lanka.

 

💵 Financial Assistance

Eligible students may also apply for:

  • Bursaries provided through the Student Support Unit (SSU)

At University College of Batangala (UCB), the medium of instruction is primarily English for all NVQ Level 5 and Level 6 Diploma Programs.

Students who successfully complete their studies at the University College of Batangala (UCB) will receive following qualification under the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) framework of Sri Lanka:

  • NVQ Level 6 – Higher National Diploma

This qualification is issued under the University of Vocational Technology (UoVT) and the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), ensuring both academic and professional credibility.

Yes! After completing your NVQ Level 6 Higher National Diploma at University College of Batangala (UCB), you are eligible to continue your studies for a degree.

  • Students who successfully complete NVQ Level 6 can directly enter the Bachelors degree programs offered by the University of Vocational Technology (UoVT).
