What courses are offered at University College Batangala?
University College of Batangala offers a range of NVQ Level 5 and Level 6 Diploma Programs designed to equip students with hands-on skills and professional knowledge required by today’s industries.

Who can apply to UCB (entry requirements)?
Applicants are required to meet one of the following:
GCE (A/L) qualification in Science, Arts, Commerce, or Technology streams (with specified subject requirements depending on the course).
Or
NVQ Level 4 Certificate in a relevant field of study.

How do I apply, and when is the intake?
The University College of Batangala (UCB) follows a structured and transparent admissions process to ensure fair selection of students.
- Application Submission – Admission notices are published in newspapers and on the official website. Interested candidates must submit their applications before the closing date.
- Screening & Shortlisting – All applications are carefully reviewed against the eligibility criteria. Shortlisted candidates are invited for the aptitude test.
- Aptitude Test & Interview – Applicants sit for an aptitude test, followed by an interview to assess suitability for the chosen program.
- Selection & Registration – Successful candidates are selected based on merit. They are then invited to complete registration, submit required documents, and undergo a medical test.
- Student Services – Once registered, students receive their student ID, season tickets, and access to other facilities.
How long are the diploma courses (duration)?
Foundation Course : 02 Months
NVQ 5 : 1 Year
OJT 01 : 06 Months
NVQ 06 : 1 Year
OJT 02 : 06 Months
Total : 03 Years & 02 Months
Do I have to pay any tuition fees?
🎓 Tuition Fees
- No tuition fees are charged for the NVQ Level 5 and Level 6 Diploma Programs.
- Students can pursue their studies free of charge, as all programs are fully sponsored by the Government of Sri Lanka.
💵 Financial Assistance
Eligible students may also apply for:
- Bursaries provided through the Student Support Unit (SSU)
What is the medium of instruction at UCB?
At University College of Batangala (UCB), the medium of instruction is primarily English for all NVQ Level 5 and Level 6 Diploma Programs.
What qualification will I receive, and is it nationally recognized?
Students who successfully complete their studies at the University College of Batangala (UCB) will receive following qualification under the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) framework of Sri Lanka:
- NVQ Level 6 – Higher National Diploma
This qualification is issued under the University of Vocational Technology (UoVT) and the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), ensuring both academic and professional credibility.
Can I continue to a degree after completing my diploma at UCB?
Yes! After completing your NVQ Level 6 Higher National Diploma at University College of Batangala (UCB), you are eligible to continue your studies for a degree.
