Bursary Schemes - Nipunatha Sisu Saviya Bursary Scheme
The Nipunatha Sisu Saviya Bursary Scheme is a financial support program introduced by the Ministry of Education to assist university students from low-income backgrounds. It is managed through the University College’s Student Service Unit (SSU) and aims to ease educational expenses while encouraging academic commitment.
Key Features
Eligibility
Open to Sri Lankan citizens enrolled in full-time NVQ Level 5 & 6 programs, with family income below Rs. 500,000 per year. Applicants must maintain a minimum of 70% attendance and satisfactory academic performance.
Application
Students must submit their completed applications with required documents to the SSU as per the announced deadlines
Financial Support
Monthly installments are credited directly to the student’s personal bank account. The number of installments depends on the duration of the program.
Conditions
The bursary may be suspended for inadequate attendance, misconduct, false information, or gainful employment during the study period.
Commitment
Recipients are required to acknowledge payments and inform the SSU of any changes in income, residency, or personal status.
This scheme ensures that deserving students can pursue higher education without financial barriers, while also maintaining fairness and accountability in the distribution of funds.
